My issue with most budgeting apps is that cash flow and income/expenses are usually conflated. This creates difficulties when trying to manage cashflow and income/expenses alongside networth. For instance, when I’m savings, I’m transfering money from the account that receives income to my savings account. For cash flow I’d like to see that on my budget, but for income/expenses, that is just a transfer and not an actual expense. Additionally for taxation purposes, only the interest part of a mortage payment is a deductible expense, whereas the principle that’s paid off, is essentially a transfer.
Therefore, I’d be nice to have separate pages for cash flow, income/expenses and a balance sheet, similar to the standard double entry accounting format, for those who wish to have a more advanced view of their financials.
